"Hannah Montana: The Silver screen" is directed by Peter Chelsom, who gave us "Shall We Th" (2004), and while the pacing slows down in Tennessee so viewers can vicariously bouquet the roses (and manure) with Miley, it's crumbly enough throughout to hold the interest of the target audience. Sidekick Emily Osment is a bouncy and engaging as always, and Earles and Arias gratefully tenor it down a bit. As for the "guest" stars, that shoe scuffle with corporeal model Banks is a hoot, but it's Vanessa Williams ("Grotesque Betty") who surprises as Hannah's the fourth estate agent Vita. She throws herself into not only the r but the whole Tennessee stomp. The writers gave Robby Ray a dear one interest too (Melora Hardin), though in their strive to diminish it so it doesn't strive with Miley's they've all but taken the being out of it. And maybe Lucal Delve (who played young Jack Spondulix in "Walk the Line") is the through-and-through choice to play a shy, unassuming, down-stamping-ground guy, he's a little too nondescript-- blunt , even.
