For twopence but grunty games consoles have been cruelling the vend for big-ticket games PCs for years now.

Five years ago, most self-respecting gamers cogitating of consoles as toys for scarcely kids and were happy to dish out up on fitting their PCs with the latest processor, graphics and rugged hardware both for benchmark bragging rights and to have the smoothest and deadliest position play.

These days, Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 have forceful, tightly integrated multi-quintessence processors that produce spectacular results on a high-resolution television.

Players like consoles because they are somewhat cheap, and simple to serve.

Slap in a software disc and away you go. There's no interminable tweaking of hardware drivers or having to keep away off floods of malware.

Developers like consoles because they can catalogue code for a machine with guaranteed specifications and do not have to hector so much about software piracy. Solace titles also tend to stock more margin than the PC version.
